2016: High-fives to everyone!
$86,419.65. Incredible. Eighty-six thousand, four hundred nineteen dollars, and sixty five cents.
This single year donation from our team to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is our largest yet. A few years ago, a number half that size seemed unattainable and here we are now, proudly hitting our stride. And let’s be clear, we only serve to deliver this total – the source of this generosity comes from hundreds (literally hundreds) of people just like you supporting our team and the goal of finding a cure.
2016 was a busy year. We welcomed new teammates who were friends-of-friends (Chris, Alex, Alex, Mara, Don, Stephen, and Greg) and built our small army up to 13 people. We stuffed envelopes, sent emails, sold t-shirts, and pedaled thousands of miles together to get ready for the Pan-Mass Challenge. We signed up for the Pedal Partner Program and were matched up with a great, inspiring, and rambunctious six-year-old boy named Kai. Kai was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia when he was 5 years old, but he his thankfully in full remission and treated us to a bike race around his neighborhood when we visited him one rainy morning in July. He won that bike race and clearly reminded us why Dana-Farber is so important.
